Caldea: the largest spa in the Pyrenees
Opened in 1994 and transformed into a landmark of Pyrenean wellness, Caldea is the largest thermal spa in Southern Europe. Its architectural structure — an 80-metre-tall glass pyramid designed by Jean-Michel Ruols that dominates the skyline of Escaldes-Engordany — makes clear from the outset that this is no ordinary spa.
The complex makes use of the natural thermal waters of the Escaldes-Engordany area, which rise at temperatures above 70°C and carry mineral properties that are beneficial for the skin and muscular system. The public area (Lagoon) includes indoor and outdoor thermal pools, jets, jacuzzis, Finnish sauna, steam baths and relaxation zones. The premium area (Inúu) is accessed separately and takes the experience to another level.
Indicative prices at Caldea (2024-2025): Lagoon access (3 hours) adult: 34-42 €. Child (4-11 years): 16-22 €. Prices vary by season. Always book online: capacity is limited and weekends sell out days in advance.
Inúu: the premium Caldea experience
Inúu is the exclusive-access area integrated within the Caldea building, reserved for guests aged 16 and over. If Lagoon is the popular heart of the complex, Inúu is its more intimate and sophisticated side. The Inúu thermal circuit includes Japanese thermal baths, Turkish hammam, aroma sauna, Scottish shower, cascade hydromassage pool and multiple relaxation zones with heated sun loungers.
Added to this is a menu of treatments — massages, body wraps, beauty rituals — and a light refreshment area where you can take a break between the different thermal stations. The full Inúu experience typically lasts between 3 and 4 hours.
Termespa and hotel spas
Beyond Caldea/Inúu, Andorra has high-quality hotel spas that offer a more intimate and personalised experience. The best are integrated into the large hotel complexes in Soldeu, La Massana and Andorra la Vella:
Sport Hotel Village (Soldeu) has one of the best spas in the ski area, with a heated outdoor pool overlooking the Grandvalira slopes — ideal for après-ski. Hermitage Mountain Residences (El Tarter) offers a luxury spa with guest access and its own thermal circuit. Hotel Coma (Encamp) has a more intimate spa with quality massage services and more affordable prices.

The Andorran thermal circuit
Andorra has the distinctive feature of natural thermal waters in the Escaldes-Engordany area. The thermal springs have been historically documented and their use has shaped a bathing culture that today finds expression in the major complexes. The water that feeds Caldea, Inúu and several nearby establishments emerges at around 68-72°C with a characteristic mineral profile — sodium, calcium, magnesium, silicon — that makes it especially beneficial for the musculoskeletal system.
For thermal wellness enthusiasts, Andorra is a very complete destination within a small territory: within less than two square kilometres in Escaldes-Engordany you will find the finest thermal facilities in the Pyrenees.
Spa after skiing: Andorran après-ski
The concept of après-ski in Andorra has evolved in recent years. Where it once meant cold beer and loud music at the resort base bar, today's après-ski of choice involves the spa. Several hotels in the Grandvalira area offer access to the spa and heated pool from 16:00, when the slopes begin to empty.
The combination is perfect: morning on the mountain, afternoon in the thermal water. Muscles tired from skiing particularly appreciate the warm water, neck and shoulder massage and the Finnish sauna. It is also one of the times when facilities are least busy: most skiers stay on the slopes until closing.
Book 48-72 hours ahead: Andorra's most popular spas — especially Inúu and those in the large Soldeu hotels — have tightly controlled capacity. Booking the day before often means missing out. On weekends during peak season, book before you arrive in Andorra.
Practical tips and prices
Bring your own towel. Caldea rents towels (at extra cost), but bringing your own saves a few euros. The same goes for your swimsuit: forgetting it in Andorra is easily solved at any shop in the city, but it is an unnecessary expense.
Off-peak hours: At Caldea, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings are the quietest times. Friday afternoons and Saturdays at any hour are the busiest.
Combined packages. Some hotels offer packages including one hotel night + thermal circuit + breakfast. In mid-season these can be very competitive compared to booking separately.
